Disc Springs in Vibrating Screens
May 14, 2026
Disc spring capsules are widely applied in vibrating screens to provide elastic cushioning and maintain consistent mesh tension.
In modern screen designs, the screen mesh is typically hooked onto an anchor angle and then tensioned at the rear end using a tensioner assembly, which grip the rear edge of each screen panel.
Disc springs are used with the tensioner bolt (Fig 1) or used in the tensioner spring capsule (Fig 2). By tightening the nuts on the threaded rods, disc spring capsules are compressed to generate a controlled and elastic clamping force, ensuring the screen mesh is properly tensioned and securely held in place.
Disc springs in vibratory screens performs several critical functions:
- Constant tension maintenance
Disc springs provide a stable and elastic preload on the screen mesh. Even when the mesh elongates due to continuous vibration and operational load, disc springs compensate for this relaxation. This ensures that the screen remains in a "drum-tight" condition.
- Vibration and impact absorption
During operation, vibrating screens are subjected to high-frequency excitation forces and dynamic impacts. Disc springs act as an effective mechanical buffer, absorbing part of these loads.
- Prevention of bolt loosening
Due to continuous vibration, conventional rigid bolted connections may gradually loosen. The elastic feature of disc springs maintains a continuous clamping force even under slight displacement or settling. This significantly reduces the risk of loosening and lowers maintenance requirements.

OPTIMUM Disc Spring has been manufacturing disc springs for core shooting machines since 1984.
